It's a GP9, 2GP7's and an RS3 all MTH PS3. Together it runs a few inches and stops. I can seperate them by a few inches and they run just fine in both directions. Any ideas what is causing this?

did you test the signal strength on each engine individually before trying to run them together ?also some ps3 engines can have signal issues with the way the wires are routed inside the engine near the dcs choke coil. you might look inside and see what you find!
what happens when it stops? Is one engine dead? One of them come up in conventional?
Do you see all wheels turning when running together?
When run apart, do they all run the same speed? Have you matched them like this? You said fine but do they match around the whole layout?
Is there a dead spot in the layout? (where an engine stalls?)
I can't help if I don't know exactly how they're stopping. Can you take a video?

On straight track or a switch?
What kind of track?
Both outer rails connected to common?

You probably need more rope to “lash” ‘em up tighter.
