Cant get any current lashups to work.  When i attempt to choose them on the remote I get "check track" or "engine not found."  When i try to create a new lashup, after I pressing the "D" soft key i get the same response on the remote screen.  These used to all work fine on past layouts but after trying to run some lashups on a newly constructed Christmas tree layout, no luck.  I'm using an older TIU (2nd version) and have not updated it yet.  Could that be the problem?  Also, have mostly PS2 locos but recently added 2 PS3's .  Would appreciate any advice.

Mr. Broskowitz,

I'm using version 2.1.  When "read" is pushed I get: "FOUND TIU ADDR 1 WITH 0 AIU BOXES CONNECTED".
I again attempted to program a lashup and again, when I finished the programming steps and pressed "D", it apparently did not recognize it and read "check track" briefly and then the screen went back to the last engine address that I had run.

Interestingly, when I attempted to call up an old lashup it did allow me to call it up (wouldn't do this before).  I made sure both engines were on the track in the correct order and that I had power to the track and when START UP was depressed, it said ENGINE NOT ON TRACK. Separately, both engines are recognized and both run fine individually.

You definitely need an upgrade to operate  proto-3 engines . At least version 4.2,  you might as well go straight to  the latest    version 5.....

However you still should be able to create a lash-up with version  2.1 with proto-2  engines. The batteries  needs to be  fully charged and in  good shape. The engines may remember their established ID created when the battery was in good shape but the battery  also needs to be in good shape when creating new  lash-ups.   If not you're beat.

Gregg and Barry,

Thanks much for your help.  I suspected that my lack of updating to a newer version might be the problem.  Was just too lazy to go about it.  Now I have some incentive.  Will get my copy of the "O Gauge Companion" book out and follow the upgrade instructions.  Thanks again for taking the time to assist.
