I need help designing a 10x10 foot layout. I tried using scram but i am completely clueless when it comes to layout software. I will be using only atlas three rail track. My layout is going to be going around the room. Two of my tables will be two foot wide by 8 foot long(i might Make one three foot wide by 8 foot long for an engine yard or storage track). I need to add a draw bridge or lift bridge that will meet each table at a 45 degree angle and will be 30 inches long (so i can access the room) and will determine the length of the other two tables. One of the shorter tables runs next to a closet that is 7 and a half feet long that i will be building a small yard into. my current plan is to swap out the middle curve in the corner that turns into the closet and replace it with a O-45 switch to really utilize the space available (I should mention that i will be using O-45 curves). I also plan on putting in a siding ( using O-54 switches) that can be used as the main while i do switching in the yard. if anyone can help i would really appreciate it.

Interesting. My layout is almost in the same dimensions as yours. I have two tables that are 2'x6' connect to two that are 3.5'x8' with a 4'x4' added in. I used 0-72 on the outside, as I wanted to run some large engines, and an odd shaped cut-off oval with 0-36 on the inside. In the very center of the room is a round table with a tiny 0-36 circle. So, in all - I have 3 trains running.

I don't think with what you are proposing that you will have much room for a yard. For me it was more track or more buildings and scenery. I opted for the latter. Tables with only RR track are unappealing to me. Maybe your tastes are different.

I had a lot of trouble with SCARM. I, over a period of days, physically laid my track down in different configurations to see what I liked best. I wanted some continuous running and room for buildings. I added more buildings by putting the 1.5" or so background type buildings up against the wall.

I have a large bridge cutting across one corner of the center opening in the tables to avoid just have three concentric rings.

I'll try to get a picture up later.

I hate to say it but I don't think 10'x10' will get you much operating space, especially if you include as much scenery as I have.

Took about 15 minutes to work this up, but then I've been using design software for several years and SCARM pretty heavily for the past couple of weeks.

I'm sure it's not accurate, but it's as close as I could come without more specific measurements for where exactly the closet is, etc. I won't do more until you've had a chance to review this and provide some more info.

Keith, First thank you for your help. That was close to what i was thinking. The only difference was moving the switch over to make it the center of that section of curves and to add two O-54 switches to ether end of those two tables to make a run around.

Dave, Thank you as well that was closer to what i was thinking of.  The main thing i like is that is will allow for more switching without interfering with the main line. There is one thing i would change i would move the switch all the way to the right to the being of the curve section and on the table across from the yard i would add a few switches and sidings for an engine yard.
