Charlie, the bridges swings away from you like a door. On the right side of the gate, in the first picture, you can see a heavy duty white shelf bracket. This is the same as the brackets holding up the shelf part. This bracket is attached to a board that is attached to the end of the layout with two heavy duty gate hinges. I will post another photo of the open gate later.

This is an incredible layout in the making. I love how nice it looks with the decor of the room.
The H-7 looks fantastic on those curves. Great job. Would love to see a video of it pulling all those refers, hint hint!
