LCCA At Mr Muffin’s Train Store in Carmel IN
The LCCA and the Autism Society of Indiana hosted an open house event at Mr. Muffins Trains new 5400 square foot Train Store located in Carmel IN on Saturday, May 3, 2014. This FREE open house event was open to all LCCA members, Autism Society of Indiana families and friends. Members came and saw the progress Steve aka “Mr. Muffins” and Liz Nelson (Ms Cannoli) and their team of Muffins are making on their massive layout currently under construction. Steve’s impressive operating layout is scheduled to be a tour attraction during the LCCA’s upcoming 44th Annual Convention to be held July 20-26, 2014 at the Marriot East Hotel. May 3, was a day full of fun and excitement! We conducted demonstrations on the new Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular railroad system during this event. We are hoping that families will want to get involved; build their own Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular section(s) and bring them to our annual convention in Indy. We plan to bring new modular sections to our convention in an effort to support the LCCA’s Upcoming Autism Awareness day to be held July 24, 2014 at the Marriott East Hotel. The LCCA is planning to have a Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular Railroad layout set up and running at the hotel this July. This will be a golden opportunity for local Indianapolis train enthusiasts along with Autistic children and their families to participate in our convention and then have a local modular layout that can be used year round at future local events and functions. Steve and his team plan to work with local children to construct new Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular Railroad System sections and bring them to our convention. Model railroading is a very educational, interactive, hands-on and creative hobby that can be shared and enjoyed by your entire family.
We hope this project will lead to the construction of a new Lionel/LCCA FasTrackModular layout that can be used by local train enthusiasts in the Indianapolis and surrounding areas on a year round basis. People came to this event and learned more about this new, light weight, portable and flexible new modular railroad layout standard. Most importantly, members laughed and just had a fun day with Lionel trains and Mr. Muffins huge operating layout..
The highlight for me during this wonderful and worthwhile event was meeting our newest LCCA Junior Member Jacob S from the local Make-A-Wish Organization. Itwas truly a joy to meet Jacob and his family. Jacob loves Lionel Trains and it showed on his face all afternoon. We received the following note from Jacob’s mom.
Our family had an awesome time at Mr. Muffin’s train shop! We would recommendthat everyone go and visit this store My husband’s and my favorite part was seeing our son Jacob’s face light up as soon as he walked in and saw all the toy trains. Sometimes, we feel he was born loving trains especially Thomas! Jacob’s sister Angel’s favorite part was helping with the door prize raffles and also seeing her brother’s face light up ! Jacob’s sister Lillian's favorite part was all the small intricate details of the trains on Mr. Muffin’s huge layout. We are so excited about our new found train family! We want to give a great big thanks to the LCCA, Mr. and Mrs. Muffin for making Jacob and our family's day so special!
