LCCA Switching Tracks Traveling Boxcar Spends Some Time in England
While LCCA members were having fun at trains shows in Raleigh NC and Des Moines IA this past weekend, members in England were enjoying the Lionel Collectors Club UK annual toy train show. This show was held at the Winter Gardens in Ilkley, Yorkshire. There were 8 operating train layouts of 3-rail O gauge and standard gauge. The show uwas open to the public for train enthusiasts and their families to enjoy. LCCA member Nick Hannaford was there representing the LCCA and having fun with the LCCA Switching Tracks Traveling Boxcar.
A Saturday evening dinner event was held also. It is a club tradition to run the trains at nighttime in the dark. There is something magical about running Lionel trains with the room lights off and the only lights are coming from the trains and the layout.
The LCCA Switching Tracks Traveling Boxcar had a place of honor during this dinner event and was placed alongside an engine that was restored by the club’s co founder, Geoff Bull. This engine was donated to the club by Geoff Bull's family in honor of his memory.
It was another great day for the LCCA with everyone having a great time. Additional photos will follow.
Thank you Nick Hannaford and the entire Lionel Collectors Club UK for hosting this fun event and sharing with us her in the USA. Thank YOU!
Best regards,
