LCCA Visits Marty Fitzhenry's Home Layout

Oh wow!  So much action and track on an interesting layout.  The sunset painted on the wall is really neat.  Thanks for posting and congrats to Marty.

The ride-along was very hypnotic! I think I saw Gumby's pal Pokey briefly. Great stuff.

As many times as I have been at Marty's layout this is the first time I have seen a cab view. Well done!  Marty's layout is awesome to say the least!

Like Chris, seeing Marty's layout via "Cab view" adds a whole new dynamic to the detail on his fantastic layout.

That is a cool perspective to see the layout from. Lots of stuff there to see. I probably wouldn't make it past his control panel which I still drool over.

Thanks guys for your kind words.  Thank you Al for the cab ride.  Robert, it can all be accessed.  A lot of time and planning was put into that.  The layout will be 33 years old this July 2.

 

Like I have said many times, if you ever find yourself in my area, you are always welcome to visit and run trains.

 

I have had a few emails asking me about the Train America sign.  Yes, it is the real deal.  My good friend Mike Reagan gave it to me a few years ago in Ohio.  I had the guys who worked with Mike at Train America sign it for me.

 

 

A wonderful video of a wonderful layout.  I love that opening shot that passes by the locomotives.

Al and his LCCA guys took it with their equipment.  It was a very small camera mounted on a flat car.

Recently I had pondered a switch in track for our next layout from O27 to anything else.  Seeing your layout rocking the standard O tubular gives me the idea that sticking with the O27 is going to be just fine.  Your layout, sir, is outstanding.

The video added a new perspective for me as regards your awesome layout. I'm going upstairs later to throw rocks at my layout, as I do every time I arrive home after visiting with you, Dotty and Ralph!  

 

Many well-deserved kudos on having created a truly great model railroading world in your basement!

Very nice video & layout.

I spent a brief 2 hours with Dotty, Marty and Ralph a few weeks ago.  It is impossible to take the layout in on one visit.  There is so much complexity to the design, so many important and memorable artifacts.  33 years well spent.  My regards to you Marty and your family. 

Not only is this a special layout, it is the work of two very special people in our hobby, Marty & Dotty. It would be impossible to find two nicer folks. We both treasure their friendship.

What a beautiful thread, I had the privilege of seeing this fantastic layout in person. It is one of the most beautiful layout's I've ever seen, not to mention it's quite large.

 

We are so lucky to have Marty and Dotty in this great hobby with us, Thanks Al for this wonderful tour or Marty's layout. Like Marty said above, if you ever are in his area this is a layout that is a must see. Not only will you see a beautiful layout, you will enjoy Marty and Dotty's hospitality and get the chance to see Ralph the cat.

Big CONGAs to you MARTY!!!!!!   Great layout and wonderful video.  My WIFE and I are headed up to Bar Harbor, Me. in August,  and if time permits and if you are there, would like to drop in.  Keep up the good work!!!

What can is say...  HOLY COW!  That's a great layout, I can see why people rave about the visit.  That makes it certain my next trip to Boston I have to stop and see it!

 

LCCA club volunteer videographer Ed Richter used a Go-pro camera to shoot this unique perspective of Marty's fabulous layout.  Thx again Marty and Dotty.   I invite people to contact Marty to schedule a  visit with Marty and Dotty this summer as part of the LCCA's 45th Annual Convention. This is too good of alway out not to see in person.

As many times that I have been to Marty's to run trains, seeing it from the cab view really makes you appreciate even more the tremendous layout he has built. Marty & Dotty are 2 very special people in this hobby.

I would like to see a few overall shots of the layout.  I've heard much about it.

Fantastic video of one of the greatest layouts in our hobby....AND... two of the most loved folks!!  Marty and Dotty are without a doubt two of the best friends we have in our hobby.  Thanks goes to the LCCA for doing this video and to Al for posting it....but most of all thanks to Marty and Dotty for being THE BEST!!

As others have said, that was a great way to see Marty's layout. But that is the tip of the iceberg so to speak. I encourage you to take Marty and Dottie up on their offer to visit - great people and great trains. Purr to Ralph.

Well I have always wanted to go to New England, but have never made it there.  Now I see Marty and Dotty's layout is an even bigger attraction than I had even thought!

 

Our former pastor had a goal of visiting every major league stadium.  I guess a goal would be to put together a list of must see toy and hi rail layouts.  

 

Whats that you say?  There are several great layouts in the New England area!  All the better!  I have only been in 3 major league stadiums, but they were all within 5 miles of each other.  Forbes Field, Three Rivers Stadium, and PNC Park!  Of course it took me almost 40 years to pull that one off.  ;-)
