I have a set from 2009 that I have run conventional quite a bit, but tried it with DCS for the first time the other day. Horns, bells etc work, but it does not respond to speed control input. Just goes up to the speed the transformer throttle is set at. We did a reset, no change. Today I pulled the shell looking to see if the tach strip was off or? The tach strip is intact, but has a light black streak all the way around. I am guessing the reader is slightly touching causing the line. How much clearance should there be? What can i use to clean the tach strip without damaging it. Does this streak sound like it could be my problem?

thanks for any input

Ok, all better now. In order to get my fat fingers in to clean the tach strip, I unscrewed the smoke unit bracket and the tach reader bracket and swung them out of the way. It cleaned up easily with a bit of Maguires on a Q-tip. With the tach reader off the frame it was a quick diagnosis of why it happened. The China guy who was supposed to put the motor mount screws on the American Flyer Defender GP-9 must have been the same guy installing the tach reader. The screw was only in about 2 threads leaving the reader flopping around and rubbing the strip.
