I use warm white in my Marx light towers.

Go with daylight, particularly if your going to take photo's.
These were taken under CFL's, LED results should be similar.
Warm white:
Daylight:
The colors of the model are much better rendered under daylight lamps.

I used warm white... not the brightest, but I like the “warmth”. I found the daylight was rather harsh - almost like fluorescent bulbs.
To me, the more lumens the better. Put the lights on a LED friendly dimmer to get the light level you want.
I use 4K kelvin LEDs. Hard to find, most are warm white (3K) like an incandescent bulb. To me, 4K kelvin brings out the color better. Also find a high CRI (color rendering index) if you can.
I am most impressed with these Hyperikon Lamps - 3000 K , over 900 lumens, good diffusion of light so you don't get "hotspots"..... Lumens is an expression of the amount of light the lamp is putting out... There are a bunch of inexpensive 2700 K warm white lamps but they only put out around 650 lumens, not really adequate in my opinion... 2700K is in the warm yellow light end of the spectrum, 4000K to 6000K is moving toward the harsher blue/white end of the spectrum...
I recently bought some "on sale" 3000K lamps at Walmart, ended up returning them because they were narrow 40 degree spots , not wide dispersion flood lamps.
Personally I wouldn't go any higher than 3000K in LED lighting, the 3000K lamps are more like white halogen lighting. Any higher and you're going into the "blue" end of the spectrum....

Photos work well, the shots below are pretty representative of what you see in person.... I did not edit these photos in terms of color and brightness...
