Did a lot of reading today and I can't get an answer. LED headlight on my Weaver Shark burned out. Have to admit I didn't know it is not a 12v bulb. Now I know! Would a 3v 3mm bulb be the direct replacement? The bulb has leads that go into a tiny plug that plugs to the board. No problem,I can soldier. Thanks in advance!

I doubt it. The LED doubtless has current limiting for 20ma or less, the incandescent bulb will require more current. Why not replace it with an LED?
It is an LED. I didn't realize they take so little voltage! Thats how I ruined it by putting 12 volts to it,wanted a headlight on all the time. Guess i can live with light on only in forward. Just looking to replace what the engine came with.
Now I am not so sure it is an LED. The bulb is about 3.5 mm across but when I look closely I see a filament inside. So apparently Weaver has the bulb working at a reduced voltage. When I applied 12 V to it it burned out immediately. Research continues.

That's not an LED, it's probably a 1.5V incandescent bulb.
Knowing what electronics is in the engine would help in determining what bulb you need.
Thanks for the reply, it's a conventional control, 2 can motor with a pretty basic horn. Weaver engine. There is a QSI module on the board. Maybe for the horn?
The QSI board is probably the reverse board, that indicates the directional lighting is probably 1.5V incandescent. You need an incandescent to replace it as white LED's run at a nominal 3VDC level.
Does the board look something like this?
Pretty much but with an extra board on top. I would love to wire the headlight to operate any time track power is on, is there a 12 V or 15V LED available that I can splice into the harness?

Sure, lots of people sell 3mm LED's that will run from track power, and you can roll your own simply with a resistor and a diode with the LED.
Thanks, guess I will go back on the Evan's site to see what I can find. Most helpful knowing that the original bulb is 1.5V. I appreciate your help! I'll get this sorted and then back to installing a MTH smoke unit to the unpowered B unit!
