Apply voltage and nothing happens. If I press down on a resistor(?) the 3 associated leds (in any grouping) light ever so lightly.

Is this on an LED strip...where each section has a resistor and three LEDs...lights with 12 v?

Yes it is.
With some alligator clips or something comparable, touch the copper dots with 12vdc or less and see if you get results. Remember correct polarity is required. You can touch at any of the dots along the strip. May be bad connection under shrink wrap.

Well, the leads should make good contact but after applying 12vdc plus to red, black to minus, measure the farther down the line voltage to see what it is. If it’s low, then check the connector of the leads to the strip. You could also measure across the first resistor which should read about 6 vdc or so.
voltage going down the line constant 5-6 volts. voltage across resistors about 1.2
lights only faintly light within a group of 3 if I squeeze resistor with thumb and forefinger.
Are you applying 12 volts to the red/black leads? Should read 12 volts then all the way down across the little round pads that say 12 volts.
Your 12v supply may be running out of current capacity for all the leds.
If it lights when you press on the resistor, it's a bad solder joint. I've used lots of these strips (they're in my lighting kits). I've seen a number of them with poor soldering on either an LED or a resistor. In some cases, I just fix them, if that doesn't work I toss that section.
Feeling kind of stupid. I wasn't applying enough voltage. After applying 12 volts, all is good. Thanks to everyone for their help!!!!!

Kind of wondered that but thought we covered that. Glad you got it sorted.

You may speak for MOST, TedW, but you don't speak for me.
(I keep my dose of stupid in my FRONT pocket, where I can get to it faster).
