I am ready to start putting buildings and structures on my new layout. I need information on LED lighting. I would like to put LED lights inside of all the buildings. I envision a 12V LED light with about a 1 foot pigtail.
Obviously, this is a new territory for me. I am not even sure how many LED lights I would need in the structures and if what I envision is even available. Any advice I could get as to how to do it and where to buy the lights would be appreciated.

A normal LED light's leads are usually less than an inch long, and can be made shorter, even the same can be done with the resister, so you end up with a nice compact package to work with, there are a ton of videos on you tube about LED's.\

For building lighting I buy rolls of LED's off ebay. Cheap. Cut off what I need and solder on a pigtail of 28AWG wire cut to whatever i need. Lights are adhesive backed so i just stick to the roof or a sidewall. I'm lighting a lot of buildings so cheap works best for me usually. For any specialty LED I also use Evan Designs. Their customer service is excellent

This is what I did for all our buildings.
Hi Jim - I used the Woodland Scenics Just Plug Lighting system. It's very easy to install and operate. It's a bit pricier than going the bulk route but I had the WS built up buildings so I was already part way there. I got everything that I needed from Hobby Lobby, 40% off one item per visit. LOL. Woodland Scenics web site has a good tutorial as well.
