I have Legacy but want to buy some MTH engines. How do I combine the two systems, or can the MTH units run on Legacy as well?

You can operate Legacy and TMCCV engines in command mode from the DCS Remote with the following caveats:
- Legacy engines will operate like TMCC engines
- Legacy features will not be available from the DCS Remote
- You will need either a Legacy or TMCC command base (not both)
- You will need MTH cable #50-1032.
The Legacy Cab-2 remote cannot operate DCS (PS2 and PS3) engines at all in command mode. With the addition of additional equipment, the Cab-2 can operate DCS engines in conventional mode only.
Regardless, both command systems can be connected to the same layout at the same time and operated with their respective engines on the same tracks simultaneously.

If you don't want a full blown Legacy base if running via DCS, the new Base 1L due out later this year maybe worth the wait. It is a less expensive solution if you are looking for limited operation. Just depends on what you are looking for.
First I've heard of it. What are the advantages?
The only advantage over the full Legacy is that it's a bit cheaper. OTOH, it is more limited than the Legacy system.
