Am anticipating a really good thread due to the high level of imagination and skill of you guys.

Let's see what you've done with creating unique or unusual loads for your cars

Below is a common MTH Columbia Fire Dept flat w/two trucks. Problem was, it was ALL red. I repainted the decking to give some visual variety to this piece

Here are some others I've been working on and built various crates and added fuel barrels. Still need to add chains and other tie downs.

and my favorite so far

Paul, is that an operating helicopter?
It would be neat to shoot a video of it performing a slow lift-off from the car on the layout!
Years ago when we flew RC there was a fella who flew real helicopters too. He purchased an old Bell like the one on my car and when he brought it home on a trailer he declined the assistance of a crane to lift it to the ground. He was a wise a** type and decided to fly it off of the trailer.
Situation started fine and all of a sudden something went amiss - he tipped it over and it literally flopped around for what seemed like a minute or so. Fortunately, he was only banged up but he totaled his new toy..
Here are a few I put together, and a couple of flat cars with loads I purchased, but they were home made.

I found these two at South Bound Trains in Franklin, TN.

This is a work in progress - I still need to block and chain the loads. I am not sure a prototype flat car car could be loaded like this, a heavy dozer on one end and a lighter grader on the other end. Opinions?

You purchase a scale flat car and you put a load consisting of one of the new diecast construction equipment items, you end up with one expensive piece of rolling stock. No wonder the manufacturers don't make these kinds of loads!
Thanks,

Richard

Yes it is Sam, I haven't "played" with it for a while because I am currently building a new layout, the old one was disassembled already. I'll have to brush up on the flying skills and shoot a video.

One of my more recent ones.

980G on a PS-4 Flat Car

Removed the Bucket and placed it on separately.

The Crate i put on there I made from scratch. The lid opens. I took the pins that held the bucket on and put them in there. Broke a shipping peanut up into a million little pieces to stuff the crate. Loader is not glued to the flat car. It is held on with the chains only.

You should find a "Bethleham Steel" lettered flat car to carry this load.

That's a great idea, thanks. Something else for my list...
Should be able t get CFO approval on that one too.

Forum member Rattler21 asked me to help with posting some nice photos he sent for this thread:

The REA trailer is sitting atop an MTH flatcar shell with K-Line trucks.
Last photo shows how we brought in the outdoor storage tanks when the dairy had to expand and needed the tank room for production machinery.
