I wasn't sure if I would like these but they are excellent quality and look good with the room lighting on or off.  I installed two packages of these Lionel lighted telephone poles sets.  They have been operating flawlessly for months.  Attached are pictures of what they look like Installed.

Forgot to say that I was really undecided about the best voltage.

Also questioning what they would look like with the room dimmed down.  I decided I wanted both (10v and 14v) so put a small switch to allow for 10v lighting (night mode) and 14v selector option (daytime mode)The on/off can be controlled with the AIU and handheld remote.  However you do have to manually select 10 or 14v brightness...

Very nice looking! Unfortunately I have quite a few $ invested in Weaver poles 50 plus units that I added 8 separate lines of wires to. Maybe a few around my depot might work. I wish they would have offered the lighted ones with the transformers attached also. They would look very realistic! Are the lights bulbs or LED's?

No they're not LED but are scale sized and have some nicely colored insulators and lantern arms, also have climbing peg detail.  I'll attach a close up picture.

I have some MTH poles but I think the Lionel are nicer.  Although I feel these Lionel poles are nice they are on the high side (about $45 for 6 poles) but was very impressed with the quality.  Considering they're illuminated and can now activate as an accessory through DCS I'm satisfied with the purchase.

i do like the small concrete base because the top part of the base (which includes the pole) snaps over the bottom base.  This allows me to lay them down if I'm cleaning the track or whatever.

Does anybody have these on their layout?  I was wondering about the voltage...  I believe believe the book says voltage can be anywhere between 12-18v, reason I ask is I normally leave them at 10v but for daytime operation (all room lights on) would like to leave these set to 14v.  is there a preferred voltage?

Was going to ask you about the voltage. We are currently running our buildings and lamps at 8 volts, hard to see with lights on but trying to avoid burned out bulbs. We'd stay with 10 and long life. Can the bulbs be replaced?

(Had too many scale friends use 3v bulbs with resistors or use leds, then by accident over voltage and burn them out in non repairable places.)

I'm not sure if the bulbs can be replaced.

With this accessory I think the 10v ads a nice ambiance (of a warmer more yellow tone), especially with the room lights dimmed.

However, with any daylight or full room lighting the 14v looks best.  I'm glad i put the 10/14v selector switch in.
