Any ideas on what lights would be used in the Ameri-Town building kits and advise on where to buy them?

Yup, LED's for the low power win.
You can also try the 300 LED roll for good pricing.
Cut in sets of 3 and wire up.
And the great things about using the LED's is low power consumption, low heat, and very long life. Now that they have all the different color balances, they are the only way to go in my opinion.

While there certainly are less expensive sources for the various LED solutions on line if you're so inclined, I'll just mention a couple of our traditional model railroading suppliers who are providing the LED solution for building lights...
...by no means a comprehensive list. Just a few to help those of us who work with more traditional sources. BTW, we (LHS) provide these and other LED items to our customers. I'm sure other LHS's do, also.

I'll also add another . Evans design. (ModelTrain Software)I have purchased numerous times from them. Go to their web-site and it has a lot of suggested little projects to view. It's worth a visit just for some future ideas.
All excellent suggestions above. I have used Evans Design LEDs and can recommend them.
If you are looking for an incandescent solution, Model Power makes (made) sets of peel & stick bulbs with sockets and leads (12-14 vAC) that work nicely inside buildings. These are particularly handy if you are using track occupancy to turn on/off rooms in buildings. I should have mentioned Evan Designs in my post above, they have LED's that are ready to go and they are also a forum sponsor (see banners above). Also your LHS would be a good place to try. Unfortunately my LHS doesn't carry any LED's for this type of stuff.
