No, you can't run a LionChiefplus  from the DCS system. I run all my MTH, Legacy and TMCC locos from the MTH app. But I like the fact that my LionChief engines are so easy to use, not bothering with DCS. Very often I go down to the trainroom, switch power on and just run a LionChief loco for a while…

Can I run a Lion Chief Plus locomotive with MTH DCS similar to the way MTH DCS can control a TMCC equipped engine?  If not, can I swap in a TMCC board?

Thanks,

Mike

Lionchief Plus can be run using one of the VAR outputs in DCS but that is conventional control.

You can upgrade the loco with an MTH Proto 3 upgrade kit or a 3RD Rail Cruise Commander but that is a heck of an investment for a LC+ engine IMO (I actually did this a year or so ago and ended up removing the Proto 3 upgrade kit and using it on a more detailed engine).

If I were you I would do as BERRA said, use DCS for DCS and when you want to run your LC+ loco use your remote and enjoy.

Hope this helps!

I just recently got my very first LC+ loco (4-6-2 Pacific steam engine).  I am having so blasted much fun running it in conventional, I haven't even put batteries in the remote yet!  What a hoot!!!
