I have two Lion Chief Plus engines that have developed a "squeal" when the engine is running. It squeals along with the chuffing of the engine. It is very annoying. Could someone share what causes this and what can be done to eliminate it? Thank you.

Smoke fan needs lube. You typically have to open the shell, remove the smoke circuit board that is the cover, grab the impeller, pull it out, and the oil the motor shaft top bushing.
Hate to say it but this is a well known and common thing. I don't know if the motors are just not lubed before assembly, or if smoke fluid interaction testing at the factory dries them out- but this is very common over the last couple of years.
There is a reason my parts box is full of these motors and impellers.
Inside the shell, this is probably what you are looking at https://www.lionelsupport.com/...A01-16-OHM-MODIFIED-
3 screws, the top lifts off, however be careful, the wires to the fan motor are soldered to the PCB and not a plug.
