"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Here’s a first look at a work in progress on its initial kitchen counter test run.

This is a rebuilt Hallmark 2333 F3. I preserved the sideframes and the pivoting pilot and cut out space for Tenshodo drive units. The control electronics is a FlyerChief board.

I wish the model is as complete as it seems. Aside from the missing front coupler,  I need to redo the motor mounting scheme and/or switch out the drive units and the insides are still fixed in place using temporary adhesive, but everything fits beautifully, and the speed control works very nicely. Because the donor board was from a FlyerChief GP, it of course has traditional control via AC transformer as well as supporting the dedicated remote, Lionel Universal Remote, Bluetooth apps, and via Base3 the Legacy Cab controllers.

Definitely a successful test. It will be fun to have a couple of these running around!E254CB0A-40AF-492F-999B-A12778C9F20B

Looks good so far. I need to get back to my BEEP upgrade....... been sitting on my bench for far too long.....

While this engine is in this weird in-between state of being wired for 3 rail AC but gauged at 16.5mm (I am continuing to do battle with the tenshodo drives and figuring out a better mounting scheme for the side frames and pilot) I thought I’d dig out a box of Dublo track from the garage and give it a try.

Points (switches/turnouts) were a no go. Surprisingly the modern wheels weren’t derailing - the issue was my quick and dirty third rail pickups were shorting on the points EVERY time! But simple straights and curves worked surprisingly well. Here’s a look with a couple pieces of  pre-conversion rolling stock. A OO Lionel FlyerChief NYC 2333 F3 running on Hornby Dublo. Weird.
