I finished the LC+ Hudson to 4-6-6 tank engine. I was determined to complete it this weekend - I just wanted to have this loco so much!
Here are some photos, a video, and a few comments.
the photo below it is late yesterday, rather complete and ready for primer. New, larger boiler is ploycardonate tube, which I was surprised, and delighted to discover, Plastruck General Purpose Plastic Solvent Cement will cement to my white styrene parts quite well! All stratch built stack, domes, cab, pipes and tanks.
Here it is in dried primer early, early this morning.
I patterned it after the B&A 4-6-6- tank engine and most of the fittings, pipes etc. you see in the first photo were patterned after what I saw on that loco. Ultimately I had to make this new one slightly smaller than the B&A to fit the slightly shorter driver wheelbase.
But again, with the new, taller/bigger cab and boiler and all, it "mixes" well with scale size locos, which, along with getting an LC+ tank engine, was a goal of this caonversion: make it scale size. Here it is with a Lionel scale Atlantic.
It turned out as I wanted. I love it!
Here it is on a brief run.
And a real coal load, too!
