This weekend my kids decided to take over my layout. I figured it was a great opportunity to highlight some of the great sets that Lionel makes for those entering the hobby or just semi-scale collectors. Enjoy!

Fun video Chris. We should not overlook some of these sets for play value. My grandson loves his Thomas set.
Some of us do not have any kids, but still I laugh every time I run this set.

Hi Chris,
Great video. Fun.
One question about the Santa Fe engine.
Does the front truck wander back and forth as it goes along the track? Bought a used set from a forum member for my grandson for Christmas and the truck wanders.

Thanks,

I have this set and the truck does move about. If run at a slow speed, to me makes it look realistic as a real trains front truck moves as you see it coming at you into the station. (IMO) due to the track real or our layouts being not perfectly flat or straight.
Don't forget my favorite...
I reviewed it last year. You can see that here.
Since these are pretty much the only O gauge three rail sets for sale in the current market, it's good they work well, are simple and reliable, are compatible with command control layouts, and have play value. I own a few and I think they are well designed for the new hobbyist market and reasonable value. Clearly not high end nor designed for decades of intensive use, but a good entry point. And experienced hobbyists obviously enjoy them too, reading this commentary. I am thankful there is at least one vendor making entry level sets.
i have the hotwheels set and i hope to get the graffiti set and emergency response set soon
Nice layout. Did you make your concrete station platform or is it commercial?
Mike - I make this myself. This video is old and I've refined my process a bit (for video production and scenic work) but it'll get the idea across.
