Well, putting aside the 100th Anniversary, it appears that the piece is on it's way, and possibly in time to make a late appearance on our Christmas Layouts before we take them down.

Although it had been in the works for a couple of years, I think the older/larger GCT took about a year to be delivered from the time the orders went in. The neat thing is we watched them being handmade, thanks to photos posted on the TW Design web site. That was 250 pieces being made at the TW studio. This is 2013 pieces, and although smaller, looks like it has a lot of the same detail.

It will actually fit in well with O gauge trains, much like the old Lionel No. 115 stations. And they will go perfectly if you have the Department 56 New York City Buildings like I do.

Looking forward to delivery in the next 30 days or so.   Anything that TW has had a hand in is worth the wait.

From another thread:

There has been a lot of interest in when we will be shipping the 637195 – Grand Central Terminal 100thAnniversary Station.  We have made every attempt to get these items here as fast as possible, but unfortunately; due to high volume of shipments, these will not be arriving in NC until approximately 12/23/13 and will not be shipping out to all of you until end of 2013, beginning of 2014.

We apologize for this delay and will make every effort to get these out to everyone as quickly as possible once they arrive.

Thanks,

LIONEL SALES DEPT

This is still a huge disappointment!  A a huge marketing blunder! Grand Central Terminal is 100 years old and lionel can't get a product to celebrate it on time, and or available to more consumers especially in nyc at christmas time say at the MTA transit store in Grand Central! Also lionel is never up-front with information to us dedicated collectors and operators who buy this stuff.  It's an insult to see shipping dates on the website! Just take them off! And calling them too is a waste.  I  want the CEO of lionel to do some damage control here and get things straight and information accurate!

Who is the person in charge of producing this item anyway? Do the managers at lionel communicate with each other?  Product development, production, advertsing, web store sales, accounting?  It seams like a joke, but it isn't,  it's a business very poorly run!

We can also address quality as well on another days topic.  Strasburg switcher problems, plymouth switcher problems, culvert loader problems the list goes on...why am I in this hobby?  I feel like nothing works right anymore!

That is a neat ornament, I picked one up last year as well.

Fortunately the GCT people marketing the 100th anniversary planned far enough ahead to have stuff available slightly before the start of the year of the actual 100th anniversary.

OT, but maybe that's why Lionel marketed a 10th anniversary Polar Express item early.  By the time it arrives, it will be the 10th anniversary.

I think some people need to switch to decaf.

Paul

And they say Model Trains is a dying hobby?

/emote looks out of bedroom window at mobs of OGR subscribers and forum members, with rakes, shovels, pitforks, storming Lionel HQ, shouting give us GCT! Give us GCT! Give us GCT!

I know I'm just the opposite of angry. It comes when it comes.

I wanted Grand Central on my Christmas Layout so I made my own statuary and put in on top of the D56 Union Station!

Too bad for Lionel that they missed the opportunity to sell these at Grand Central during the Holiday Season and the 100th anniversary year. No reason for me to be angry.
