Can anything be done to these old steamers to improve the sound and motors??

I posted this once before and there were few responses so I'll try again.

In 1992 I bought the 18024 Texas and Pacific Mohawk new, loved the color combo. (Hey, we all buy our trains for different reasons!!) If I remember correctly it was special built for sales at Sears?

Had it in the display case for years and years, when I finally ran it I almost wish I didn't!

What could be done to update this old locomotive??? Or is should the question be is it worth fooling with??

Thanks!!

The engine has the old pulmore motor. The only way to get a smooth running engine is to either add tmcc or upgrade to dcs. But in either case you would have to change the motor to a can motor.

Imo I don't think it is worth it unless you could do it yourself otherwise it would be a $400-$500 conversion to have somebody else do it.

The cheap way out would to be to add tmcc but it still would not be a smooth runner.
