Lionel 222 Switches and new Controllers

In a word, no.

The 222 is electrically identical to the 1121, and both posts not common to the outside rails will have center rail current fed through the solenoids illuminating the bulbs.  Depending on the current draw of the controller bulbs, the solenoids will always be energized to some extent using this style controller.

   Are there any lighted controllers that I can use for what I have in mind or just

use these with all the lights on.

You would be better off with the bulbs removed.

OR, you could use 1121C-60 / 1122-100 controllers using a 53 bulb for illumination to keep current draw low.  These will show which direction you last threw the switch, which is usually just fine for these switches without non-derailing circuitry.

If you want actual direction indication, that will entail some modifications to the switch with Cherry switches.

the best bet, I also am looking for a pair of 223 switches I like that non-derailing

feature.

Okay I won a 1122 switch for $7.99 on ebay, I'll give that a try there was no bulb

inside will have to wait and see how it works.

I got the Controller today, have to rewire it but so far it works great,
