Does anyone know the level of gloss black on the prewar 262? When it was disassembled I noticed it appears to have a satin to semi gloss sheen on areas that were never touched.  I know paint fades over time but i am going to make a guess and assume the 262 is not suppose to be as glossy as a 259. any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to complete a total overhaul on this engine along with a 259 & 259E.  I still have a full container of Hennings #38 black and was hoping i could use it for the 262 but if not correct I will not use it for this project.

question 2- while inspecting the 262T tender I noticed that the truck frames don't appear to be painted and might have a black oxide on it verse a painted finish. Am I seeing this correctly or does someone have a better idea as to what the finish is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a bunch of stuff headed to the plating shop and they can do black oxide if necessary.

I will share pictures when I get done with all of these projects.

Mike
