Hello; need some help from anyone who has one of the add on meters for a post war ZW. I have one mounted that worked up to recently; the display became very dim; replaced the battery and the display worked (rechargeable 9V by the manual). Removed power and the display shut down as per the manual; later went to use it again and no display with the transformer powered (all output/whistle/direction were normal). Disconnected the ZW, replaced the battery and the displays were normal (power down sequence). Waited for the flashing "OFF" as per the manual; powered up the ZW again and no display again as per before!
In summary, the display only works with a new battery installed (either alkaline or NiMH) until it is shut down; then it never reappears until the battery is disconnected then reattached. As long as the ZW is powered, the displays are normal; unplug the ZW, shutdown display is normal never to come back again. No parts for this at Lionel.
Suspect a circuit board is bad; if anyone has experienced this "booger" and found a fix, your help is appreciated; thanks much; Falcon70
