What can anyone tell me about this unique 1956 one set only 6014 Chun King Boxcar?  Everything I read says Bar-End trucks only.  Mine clearly has AAR trucks and no signs of tampering.  Its not even logical why someone would change the trucks...or fail to put the proper trucks and frame back on the body if changed.  The frame and trucks are not the rare part.   Any insight would be appreciated I am very interested in the variations, history, etc.

I have one just as nice as yours, which is rare. The rubber stamping is very fragile and scratches exceptionally easy. The car came in a promotional set in 1956 with a 520 boxcab. All items were unboxed and when junior was through playing with the train, the track got thrown on top of the engine and the boxcar, track pins scratching both. The car never had plastic trucks, but metal trucks with the tab coupler. Plastic trucks were first used in 1957, a year later than the car was issued. Easy frame change like John mentioned.

They are pretty rare. Been trying to land one for years to complete a limited PW set that was pulled by the old 520 Box Cab Electric. The Set was X-150.

Edit:  I should say that I have been able to find listings for them on the auction site. Either way over priced (for me) or poor condition. Been looking for that sweet spot of price/condition.

Revisiting this thread I started.  Finally found a donor Baby Ruth X6014 in mint condition to swap the trucks/frame out on the Chun King so the Chun King has the proper Bar-End Trucks.  Interesting is that the Chun King has writing on the inside of the shell.  Most likely the shell was picked up after the Bar End truck era ended at a service station and hence got placed on the AAR truck frame.  Possibly why the lettering remains in good condition as the shell never existed in the set and played with.  See Pics of both sides with proper trucks + original photo for comparison...
