Lionel #83 Signal. How many like it?

I don't think it's a priority at least partly because original diver's helmets are so readily available.  They are susceptible to zinc pest, but you can find them in any condition from excellent to badly in need of repair, with corresponding prices.  Reproductions are also readily available of all the casting parts, and the lenses also, so you can easily build your own or repair one that has blown up.  At one time I thought they were more scarce than they are and started picking them up whenever I could.  I ended up with so many I couldn't find places on the layout for them. 

I am surprised they haven't made the #83.

I really like the diver's helmet #83 and have three of them.  For me the odd thing about obtaining a decent #83 was that for two years I couldn't find a decent one, not even at York.  Then all of a sudden they started appearing out of no where.  Go figure.

We need one of those in Blue Comet colors. 

Wow, I did not know the parts were available. I will have to google them to see if I can put one together for reasonable $$$

I think everything has been reproduced except the lens retainers and the original style flashing mechanism.

If you are going to York stop at Trickel Parts' booth, they have all the cast parts as well as the brass lens rings.

I am on the West Coast and will not be able to attend York. Does Trickel have a Website?

Unfortunately, not really: just this.  It does give an email contact, which would be the way to contact him with what you need.  He makes reproductions of almost all the prewar castings (Ives - Flyer - Lionel) that were susceptible to zinc pest deterioration.  They come unpainted.
