We are working on a LIONEL 0-4-0 docksider that will be put up for auction at our web site sometime this week possibly.

As you all know these 8905's were wired for 3R DC only but we thought that they could be much, much more. So, we are installing a DALLEE 2amp reversing unit and wireing it for LED's ( headlight, green & red markers) plus adding a front coupler. That way it will run on AC or DC.

It will be at our web auction site at

We will post photos here before the auction.

     Any thoughts on this offering.

It looks good, but I'm personally put off by the aluminum wheels with black plastic centers.  If I did a cosmetic makeover of a loco from this vintage, I would mask the chassis and running surfaces, and spray the wheels flat black or a very dark grey.  I guess you could also touch up the sidewalls and hubs with a fine brush.

I always wondered how much better these locos would look if Lionel had done that.  I guess I never forgave them for "cheapening" their traditional series product when they moved away from the one-piece die-cast wheels.  My $.02, and a suggestion for your next re-do!  -Ted
