I have a Lionel Electric Romote control for my No. 3469 Dump Car.  When I press the "unload" button the car will dump.  However, when I press the "uncouple" button nothing happens other than it appears to be shorting out.  For example the lights on my switch track will blick off and on, etc.  Is there a problem with the track it attaches to or is something burned out?   DerekDP

Sounds like there is a short in the uncoupler or the wire to it. I would inspect the wiring closely to see if it's melted together somewhere. Also check the uncoupler itself as it may have been held on and overheated. If you can't find anything wrong what you could do is unhook the wiring from the track section and hook up 2 wires to the uncoupler terminals, set a transformer to about 12 volts, set a car on the track with the coupler over the magnet,  hook 1 wire to the common terminal and touch the other wire to the hot terminal. There will be a little spark and either the coupler will open or the short will happen. If it shorts the uncoupler magnet is likely shorted.

I don't know what your problem is. It could be a problem with the control track

or the pushbutton controller. there could also be a problem with the wirng

in the car-- it is quite old, more than 50 years. The insulation may be dried out

and shorting to the car frame. It's this way on the fiive cars I own.

Recommendation-- get another track section and a pushbutton controller that is

good or build a controller. If the problem persists replace rhw wiring in the car.
