I have a new Lionel EMD F3 6-34625 set that sounds great on my layout, but looks like the new units might have an issue with sound. I noticed when operating if the F3 moves from a block with power to a block that has no power the sound on the engine will turn off eventually. I have a new 9v battery installed in them. Bad thing is that when power is applied to the track and I start the F3 back up we have no sound. The only way to get sound back is to unplug the battery and plug it back in. I get the same results if I activate the AUX1 + 5 action to shut down sound, again to get sound back it’s remove battery and plug back in. Are there any options I might be missing to get sound back or off to the shop? I am running my layout with TMCC CAB1. I have only had the F3's for one week.

Why not power up the block before the loco enters it? The battery is optional for momentary breaks like over switches with dead spots or changing direction in conventional. If you running command you really shouldn't even need a battery.I've never put a battery in anything with TMCC or Legacy while operated under TMCC or legacy. Try removing the battery altogether and power the block before you enter it, this is good practice anyway to prevent your locomotive from transferring the voltage through its own wiring and "bridging" power to the other block.
Does AUX1 + 3 start the sound back up without unplugging/plugging the battery?
I normally shoot for having power on all three levels, but my ZW sometimes will not detect that I am in command mode and I need to dial up the voltage. I will also be using the F3's in conventional mode once in a while due to most of our engines are non TMCC.
I will try the AUX1 + 3 tonight
Thank you
Yahoo - AUX1 +3 did it, sound back on! That was close, Lionel tech support was ready to throw in the towel. I have the RMA that I do not need now. Thank you thank you thank you! I did not see that option.
