I have just started my new Fastrack layout and began with 2 - O72 Fastrack Switches. I immediately was disappointed in the choice of bright white LED, the orange and red lamp doesn't look accurate. Has anyone else noticed this and know of a fix / replacement LED that makes it look more authentic in color?

Orange and red? Where?
The colors are orange and bluish. Please see photo.

Try a little yellow film over the LED and see what it results. I never thought much about it, looked green for the most part. But I can see the blue now. Rats.

I'll have to look for some film and see what I can come up with.
That is strange, mine are all red and green, or at least that's what I think they are supposed to be. (I'm a bit color blind with red and green)
Try a warm white or yellow LED behind the lens. I just tried that, makes a large difference in the hue of the green.
Has anyone replaced an LED? I did find another article talking about painting bright white LEDs, maybe that would work too.
I did one. I was checking the original LED and burned it out. So...use a resistor before you turn up the supply carefully . It's not that hard to replace.
I replaced a few of the LED's, four of my switches had them burned out. However, I wasn't so picky about the exact color, so I just stuck standard white LED's in to replace them.
DRAT, I was perfectly happy until you pointed that out, now all I see is orange and blue.
The warm white did an excellent job of toning down the orange and blue. Yellow worked really well too, I didn't have an amber one out.
Sorry Dan to rain on your parade.
Thanks all for the tips, I'll see what I can come up with. No sure why Lionel did this, it is disappointing to me.
I painted one of the leds with Tamiya X-26 clear orange. Now red and green look like red and green.
By the way, Mike, you know those lantern targets should be white, yellow, red or green depending on the route. A great job for a rainy weekend.

Good to know, now to order me some paint or find a local dealer. I did not know that about the colors, need to learn more about all that for sure.
I can tell the difference between the red and green of the Fastrack lanterns as they ship from the factory.
