Does this item match or come close to a color match with the MTH SD70ace of the same?

I've been wondering the same thing. Hope someone has an answer.

You're most welcome. It was serendipitous I saw this thread this morning when I happened to have pulled the engine and caboose out just for the paint comparison purpose to display them together. I have a set of undecorated passenger cars that I think I might paint to match as a business train. To drive some of my liberal relatives crazy, I'm going to name the cars after famous Black Conservatives.
Both pieces are very attractive!
The name George Bush does raise the blood pressure in most liberals. I know a few who would use the caboose for a dart board .
I'm a STRAIGHT Democratic voter and I like MTH's loco and now Lionel's caboose. Dart target-- NO, Jackie Kennedy's paint scheme looks far too nice on those pieces. besides, the locomotive DOES have a prototype and it looks nice too. Anyway, George H.W. Bush ("Bush 41") is a complex man who was misunderstood by most on the "left" and the "right" and is a decent person.

I agree. I'm slightly to the left of center but I also think its a good looking loco: nice colors, good scheme. I liked GHWB by the way - he was a very decent man who valued loyalty and stick-to-it-tiveness and he worked hard at his job. If I were into collecting, I might try to get an entire line of presidential locos ("Collect All 44 Today!") - I respect any ex-President - whatever one thinks of them, we elected them, and they served their country in the way they thought best.
I think its one of,if not the best, looking diesels out there ...
The engine that never moves!
UP does not use this engine.
It would make a great museum piece one day. Or on the resale maket, a low mileage engine.
It does look good!

I have the Bush 41 locomotive! Politics aside (please!), it has a great paint job and is a smooth runner!
I've seen the real deal along the Hardy Toll Road in Houston. Nice unit!

Dan, is there a reason the engine isn't used? I would think UP would either put the engine in service as is, or repaint it.

I removed septafan's comment due to inappropriate content.
Because your post didn't fit into a family friendly model train forum.

Why was my post removed? I merely stated that regardless of what you feel about George Bush, he was a President of this great nation and deserves respect simply for that achievement alone. I then stated that I would like to see a President Obama locomotive and would buy that. Furthermore, that my layout honors the President with the use of the MTH Georgia observation car with the Presidential seal on the rear platform.

VistaDomeScott: I did not remove any post made by you. Only removed one post in this thread and it was made by Septafan.

It is a very nice looking unit. It is stored at Little Rock, AR and only gets out for special events.
It may be that they are afraid of grafiti!
I believe it was last out in February.
The roundhouse rumor is that it will pull a funeral train one day, hey, thats the story going around.
The UP's heritage units have been left everywhere unattended and still look great.
The Katy was in for a major shopping earlier this year for some sort of damage and did get some painting done to it.
As a rule, what I see is the road units seldom get grafiti, but local engines are more suseptable, maybe because they are left at outlying points.
A number of road units(can't remmeber if GE or EMD) have had minor fires, maybe a burst fuel line or something, but it heat often scars the large American Flag emblem that adorns the hood. (There are enough that I would just go back to UP spelled out.)
The UP has had a program to replace the flag emblems on units that have the heat damage or just look bad. It may still be ongoing.
