Lionel Legacy CAB-2 Control Repair Issue

I have a Legacy CAB-2 and I pressed the number 9 too hard and the clear plastic cracked on the faceplate. Now when I press engine and the 9 button the display doesn't register. Can this be repaired or do I have to buy a #993 extra controller for $250? Help!

Lionel has so far been still repairing Legacy bases & controllers without charge. This will end some day but for now call them and get a RMA to send it in.

I had to send 2 CAB-2 that I'm awaiting to come back since they aren't selling parts for these yet.
