Was there a specific window where these units were manufactured?? I really miss them over the generic recordings we get now.

If you mean the roadname and number specific CrewTalk, these were on Legacy locomotives up until 2010. From there on, only Vision engines would have this feature.
The last non-Vision locos to have these were mostly featured in the 2010 volume 1/2 catalog, like the ES44AC’s, Lionmaster Duplex and Big Boy, and the first run of the NKP 765.
