My Lionel MR BiPolar E-3 (#1933573), had a problem stopping going through Ross switches. No other engine, from Big Boy to NW2 switcher, has ever shown this problem. I did a lot of work trying to figure out what was happening, all manner of track cleaning, wheel cleaning, pick up roller functions, and more. Yesterday as I was once again working on this problem, knowing from past work that the engine always died at the same place on one particular switch, that it was the swaying motion of the center cab versus the two end cab sections was causing the problem. So I took a few pics as best I could of the wiring between cab sections, and believe there is a high possibility that an intermittent short was possible.

Since this is the only BiPolar I own, I am asking if the wire routing looks out of place as it does to me. I have never removed the cab sections from a BiPolar, but it looks like each section is held on by 4 screws.

I believe the fourth pic shows most likely problem area, as wires may actually be touching top of one of the drive wheels. But the location of all the wiring runs don't look correct to me

@Steims thanks for the post that I will read. So far, I have convinced myself that wire(s) have had insulation compromised by rubbing against a drive wheel as body sways through my 072 Ross switch, and can occasionally short out.

I have to get some time and courage to try and remove the shell and try to get a better look.

My original post was to try and find out if the wiring between the body sections of the Bi-Polar were wired just above the trucks as I tried to show in the pics, or were the wires supposed to have been run from body section to body section directly within the body section shells. If you look in particular at my last pic, you can see the wires are right at a drive wheel.
