Has Lionel or MTH ever ask The OGR or any other group to meet and discuss there products. I must say that they would have to be fools not to. I have only been a member of the OGR for a short time and if I were selling trains a rep from OGR would be ask to make a suggestion or two, and let them know how there customers feel and were and how there products can be improved.

Every April and October at the York TCA show executives from both MTH and Lionel, respectively, attend the DCS and Legacy user group meetings.
I host the DCS meeting and Marty Eibeck (MartyE) on the forum) hosts the Legacy user group meeting.
Additionally at least two members of Lionel's technical staff frequent this forum and almost certainly take interest in user comments.
i am not sure if anyone at MTH checks the forum.

Rod,
MTH executive management is very familiar with what's posted on the forum as regards their company and its products.

Argueably two of the most important members of Lionel. Mike Reagan formerly head of Customer Service and Parts, now oversees production. Jon Zahornacky, the Chief Technology Officer at Lionel.
Both chime in on a regular basis, Mike most recently posted demo pics and video of Lionels new cab forward on this thread: Lionel Cab Forward

Barry;
I kind of figured that. Good to know!

It's good they read the forums, but I think it would be nice to see a post from them from time to time, like we see from the Lionel folks. Even a post with a new video or something like Mike Reagan recently posted for the cab forward.
I don't think the forum is an appropriate place for that kind of dialog. Both the manufacturers and the forum would get bogged down with it, from the trivial to the obscure that probably would only apply to the poster. I am not a big fan of hobby suppliers using the forum for commercial messages.
That being said as strictly one opinion out of many, I think the manufacturers could be more straight forward on their own sites without giving away the candy store. A good example is the why of BTO. That caused a ton of second guesses. As far as specific product questions I think a better way is to make direct contact with the manufacturer first.
If you want to dialog with , try using Facebook.
Regardless, I would think that the MTH exec team has more important things to do than stroke egos on a public forum, particularly one where trolls roam the cyber hallways, looking to pick fights.
In the past, Andy Edleman, VP Marketing for MTH, has posted on the forum a company response to an issue or three, when appropriate.
Thank all of you for your comments. I see a group of men that have been doing something they love for the past forty even fifty years and more. The knowledge that exist in OGR forum is a PLUS for any train manufacturer who has the sense to tap in it.
