I have a 1662 engine and it runs well and looks good.  I had to replace some wires and the collector.  So, now the train might move but most of the time, it is spinning its wheels - not getting traction.   So, I thought that maybe the collector is somehow thicker and causing the wheels not to touch the track as much as needed.  BUt, I can't tell.  I start it out and may get it to get traction and it goes but it easily gets stuck and the wheels start spinning. Maybe you can't help but maybe I am missing something.  Any ideas why it is not getting traction?  I am hoping that there is something obvious but I really am stuck.

Thanks

Ron

I had a similar problem with a prewar Lionel loco.  Holding it at eye level on a single piece of track and looking at the end, I could see that the collector was down too far, as you have surmised with yours.  In my case, the fiberboard strip holding the collector had drooped.  It was easy to bend it back into place and now the loco runs like a champ.
