Our club had a surprise guest this afternoon in Ted Bockley who is a new project director under Mike Reagan in Concord NC. Ted (center) is friends with Michael (right) Donahue who is a HO modeler. Both are originally from the Boston area with Ted a former employee at Charles Ro & Company, now working at Lionel. Michael was taking Ted around our area visiting layouts near Asheville where he now resides. They dropped in today with Michael's young son Kevin (?) to run some trains. Two of our members and I were on hand to operate some equipment for them. Ted gave young Kevin some quick instructions with the Legacy handheld and we soon had him running my AC6000 in Warbonnett colors. A good time was had by all.
I am very encouraged that Lionel has some young fellas (Ted is 24 and a self- described 'train fanatic') working there and involved in planning and developing. They will be the future of the company. He is a very bright and articulate young man and should do well there. He's looking forward to his first York this October too.
Michael is concerned that young Kevin might be asking for something from Lionel this Christmas - a departure from his HO models.
Everyone is welcome to come visit when in the area. Hopefully, Lionel will know we're here now - and not too far away..
