Lionel RS-11 body shell on Weaver RS-3 2-rail frame | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I can't find where the post is, but I know I have seen this before.

Can anyone share information & photos on how this is done?

I looked too couldn't find it. I thinking it wasn't a how to but like you a question. Also remember the RS3 is a chain drive( PD Drive). Not a whole lot of room for electronics.

There is a YouTube video showing one with NWSL Stanton drives that runs pretty well. I'll try to remember to find the link and post it later. It's a great idea as it essentially frees up the entire space inside for electronics and, more importantly, speakers

So essentially instead of the weaver tower drive you convert it similar to what's on the 3rd rail SD9s.

No, not quite. The NWSL drives have the motors in the trucks. Pretty slick...

Stanton Drive. That's what K line had used on their F Units and The Interurbans.

From Matt Forsyth's FB post in the P48 group...

Matt has said that it needs a 0.25" extension to the frame to accommodate the longer shell.

This is prototypical as the RS-3s are 55' 11 3/4" between the pulling faces, and the RS-11s are 56' 11 3/4".
