I have a Lionel JLC, scale GG1 6-18372. The smoke unit was recently replaced and works fine but the fan stays on all the time. The fan used to turn off when the smoke unit wasn't activated. When it was replaced six or seven years ago I seem to remember a modification to the smoke unit PCB that had to be done in order to turn the fan on and off when the smoke unit was activated. I know that diesels have the fan turning all the time with no problems, but I remember that there was a way to keep the fan off until it was needed.
