The Big Snow Movers!

With most of the northeast region of the U.S. getting hit with heavy snow this week, lucky train spotters will notice a certain type of train on the tracks that they normally wouldn’t see at other times of the year. These unique and unusual looking trains are brought out to save the day by making sure the tracks are safe and free of snow and ice.

Of course, we’re talking about snow plows – the large pieces of equipment used to remove snow and ice from railroad tracks. Two of the snow plows that have been around the longest – and are the ones we will discuss here – are the wedge plow and rotary plow.
