I am having an issue with my post-war Lionel UCS track button controller. It will uncouple on both buttons but not unload. I took it apart and played with the fingers inside of it and I can get it to work but not once I let them go. Please advise an adjustment method to these inside the controller metal fingers to get it to both unload and uncouple.

There should be a fiber spacer button between the middle two switch blades on the unload side. It is rather small and it is not unusual for them to be lost. Is yours there?
If it is, then you have to adjust the outermost switch leave. On the uncouple side it should be bent away from the next leave so it never can contact it. On the unload side it should be close enough for the next leave to contact it (spacer must be there) when the button is pressed in all the way.
This is all assuming that it is wired correctly.
The trick is to be sure all the leaves are straight(except for the bottom on the uncouple side), the spacer is in place and not broken, and all contact surfaces are clean.

Anyone who is planning to disassemble an operating track controller should know that the square spacers between the switch blades are not all the same thickness. Most, if not all of them are color coded. Keep track of which ones were in which spot. And don't loose that little button-like spacer!
