I picked up a ZW-L from a forum member a couple of months ago and downloaded the instruction manual and also watched the Lionel video.

All the information seems to show the command operation with either a Legacy CAB-2 system or the older TMCC system.

What about the CAB1-L.  There is no mention of using it to control the ZW-L.  The manual was printed in 2013 before the CAB1-L.

Anyone operating the ZW-L with the CAB1-L?

You're not selling me on this.  Does it have that same goofy "acceleration" function, that sends a command to increase by a different number of speed steps, depending on how fast you turn the knob?  Couldn't stand that!  It and the vagueness of the knob, lack of confirmation, etc., turned me off of TMCC for a long time.  The CAB-2 was a major improvement on all counts!

Not sure how this applies to the OP's question about operating the ZW-L with a Cab1-L.

To answer his question, yes we use the Cab1-L and it is much more ergonomic in your hand then the monstrous square Cab-2 which some guests need to use two hands while operating.

I had no intention of selling anyone on anything.   Just making an observation about the differences and similarities of the CAB1 and CAB1L.

I'd like to find out how they reduced the ZW-L's output from 720 Watts to 620. I wouldn't mind hopping mine up.

Each output has a max of 10 AMPS but in order to get the UL listing they had to drop the MAX wattage to 620. So while any output can hit 10amps if 3 hit the full 10A the 4th channel only has about 4A. Of course the correct way to figure this out is in watts so if 3 of the 4 outputs pull the full 180W then only 80W for the 4th channel to use. Hope that makes since
