Two draw backs I see is there isn’t much available to run with them.
I believe they are 72 footers which limits operation on 036 & 042 curves.
Personally I don’t care for the look of anything in 3 rail over 16” long.
Is it too late to order? I went to the Pubic Delivery Track website and the car was not listed.
Were they a PDT exclusive? I don't see them listed anymore either.
If they were anything like the old Pullman-Bradley cars Weaver put out then they're really nice, I'm working on one right now, repainted for Seaboard (wish they would offer the combine).

They're 85 footers...21". I was going to order a few, but they are really long for my layout.
I just picked one up on eBay. They are very nice. Waiting for the paint and decals for a little project.

What kind of project you got in mind??? N&W didn't own any of these did they?!?!?! I've got another in C&O paint that I'm not sure if I want to repaint into SAL or another RR. The seats can be removed too if you're careful. The SAL cars had different window placements so I cut the ones out I needed to alter and swapped them side for side. It was probably the trickiest bit of "plastic surgery" I've ever done but came out good.
I like the lighting on these cars. They're well built, taking the ends apart to paint is harder than most, but doable. I had to open the doors to get them out of the ends, a bit tricky unless you have extra hands.

Nope, but for the price I can't resist. I am still tempted to just run it as a "foreign road" coach.

Actually, after doing some research the answer is "yes". The N&W #418 Safety Instruction Car is a Pullman Bradley car. Mr Claytor had it painted Tuscan red with gold stripes. So, it actually had a proper paint job. Currently it's at VMT.
"The car which was eventually to become NW 418 was ordered in November 1945 by the Boston & Maine Railroad from the Pullman Standard Car Manufacturing Company as one of two diner-bar-lounge cars which were built at the Osgood Bradley works of P-S in Worcester, Massachusetts in lot 6778 plan 46544."
N&W Safety Car #418 is the project.

I see the car was originally a B&M car, then went to Wabash.
Was it a combine or a coach? Any photos of it in Wabash paint? I did a quick Google search but found nothing.
It was actually a diner-bar-lounge car. Since the bulk of the windows get filled-in, it probably won't matter that I'm starting with a coach. I'm scratching for N&W pictures and have not seen any of it in Wabash colors.

Wabash Blue isn't Pevler Blue. The Wabash paint scheme looks nice. I've been very vocal about my feelings regarding Pevler Blue. It wasn't the blue. It was all about not being Tuscan Red.

If Weaver made them in 16" they would sell them as fast as they made them.
The LIRR cars were acquired from the Boston&Maine in the mid 1950's after the B&M eliminated most of its long hail trains. They ran on the LIRR for about 20 years. They were originally painted in the LIRR Goodfellow greys and had a circle LI On them. At athe time of the worlds fair , get hey were redone in the Grey with orange stripe scheme about a 1964. When the MTA took over, remaining cars were gradualy reprinted into the MTA scheme. They remained in service into the 1970's until the last of the steam boiler equipped locomotive trains were converted to HEP style . I rode these on some of the Port Jefferson trains from Long Island City. Some were retained for MW service. They were step up from the P54's and Ping Pongs. I believe there may be one at the Railroad Museum of Long Island in Riverhead.
Equipment sales between the LIRR and B & M occurred on previous occasions. The B & M in 1940 acquired a group of excess P54's from the LIRR. They replaced wood coaches on B & M commuter trains.

Always appreciate your historical info on the LIRR. Rode it many times for both fun and work. My favorite ride was on the KCS stainless steel cars -- so much smoother than the regular coaches. I believe it was in the spring of 1969 when a bunch of us heard a rumor that Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton were going to jam together in Central Park, jumped on the train in Smithtown. The others couldn't understand my excitement about getting the KCS cars.

I would have considered buying a compressed 60 footer but not an 85' car.
From a sales standpoint, the majority of us operate O42 & 54.
As for graphics, I notified Weaver a few yeas ago. It seems something changed in their graphics dept. Most of cars logos and graphics within the last 2 or 3 years have been (UNDERSIZED)
Joe at Weaver didn't know what happened at that time.
SCL box car graphics are too small.
Too bad about the latest LIRR car being off.
I'm attempting to advise Atlas on the planned LIRR Trainman cars right now so they get it right. Never heard of a P54 # 8512?
The last Atlas LIRR B/W caboose Dashing Dan logo was undersized as well. Probably the same graphics people are doing their cars too?

I'm not surprised that Weaver got these cars wrong. Have you ever seen their rendition of a LIRR RS-3? Wrongs shades of gray and orange, plus the orange on the ends of the hoods does not go over the top of the ends.

LONG should be over window sections 6,7,8,9.
ISLAND should be over window sections 12,13,14,15,16,17.
Orange numbers start at window 11 and can also be white as on car 7524.
NO orange doors even on MP72 WF's.
