Listening to Sound Files outside of an engine: is it possible?

Some, but not all, can be heard on the MTH website.  Search for the model # of your loco, and then the support tab.

According to MTH website they will warranty up to 5 years on NOS as long they are authorized dealer.

I just load them into a board and listen to them.  I know of no way to do that externally.

Way I understand the MTH warranty is product has to be bought within one year of the MTH shipping date to dealers to be eligible for the 5 year warranty.  

I agree with  Gunnrunnerjohn except I would download the original sound file from  the engine in question to my computer, in case you change your mind and can't find the one you need , that way you can upload the sound file back into the engine if necessary. either way it's is no big deal!

Most of the sound files are not available as sound clips.

John, I have a spare PS2 3V board set mounted to my PS2 test fixture.  That makes it easier than dumping the file into an engine.  I just over write it for the next up sound file.

I try to do a search on youtube for the engine to hear the sounds. I did this w/ a BNSF Dash-8 I just bought.  Really liked the file the engine had on it.  Obviously , th efiles can be changed & what I am hearing may not be the original file, but in most cases the people are doing video reviews & the engine has the stock sound set.

Marty, I just take a PS/2 board out of my parts box and do the same thing.  I have spares for both the 3V and 5V boards.
