I am in my local Menard's at least 3-4 times a week for my business, and of course have to "check out" the train aisle on every visit!! The shelves are pretty empty at the moment, they were stocked decent recently but it seems every time I go in they have less an less. Example two or three days ago there was a bunch of rolling stock, last night there were only three left. Now, I am not complaining as obliviously they will re-stock when they can and when they do re-stock the stuff does not last. What I am saying is I never knew there were that many train enthusiasts locally? Also,it shows what great products they make for us as they can not keep them in stock! Always look forward to hitting the "train aisle" on every visit!!  Menard's keep up the great work, you guys are a breath of fresh air for the hobby!!

OR... the local management does not have a lot of confidence in the market, and so stocks limited numbers of products.  BTW- Menards is building a store in Mentor, but that one will be (probably) not in business until at least spring 2019.

Our area (NE Ohio) looks to be a "hotbed" of O-Gauge- we now have the Center Field Railroad Museum/ hobby shop in Middlefield,  and the prospect of "The Lionel Experience" planned for Painesville, OH.  There is also a museum (re) opening in Geneva that will feature all scales.  So- maybe the new Menard's in Mentor will reflect that in its ordering??

I was in a Columbus Menard's last week. Lot of buildings....less than 20 rolling stock. In a way that's good....and at $20-30 it is a deal......I only bought one box car but if they had much more in stock....I'd bought more! True, I'd love to go into a store and be able to hold any of the tolling stock before I buy.....but as long as they keep making it!!!

I always considered Ohio a major RR state. I saw more trains there than any where else I lived and I can watch tracks from my porch today; still no comparison.

I think the 70s took such a toll on the area your average income was still climbing out before recently, and your finally making headway again.

It could be avid interest from the local market, but, honestly, it sounds more like an eBay seller raided the shelves for resale if the shelves are that empty just three or four weeks since they were fully stocked.

I have never known Menards to restock the train shelves for the seasonal sales once the merchandise is sold. It’s usually treated like the rest of toy section, restricted to stock at hand (including backstock, if any, in the receiving area). Sometimes new releases that weren’t available when the shelves were stocked are added later, at least to a certain point in the season, but only Menards can say for sure.

Since you’re there so often for business, see if you can get a more definitive word from the store manager. Maybe he or she can request some extra stock for the empty shelves. Or, if Mark is reading, he could offer some information.
