I am looking for models that are not too pricey but are of a good quality and can be cleaned and reused. If anyone has any recommendations I would appreciate it. LOL I have already spent over $250 in parts but still need the capability to paint the Engine, Tender and Cars. Since things are a little tight these days I want to get a good value but do not necessarily want to become the next Picasso either. <GRIN>

Dennis...Here is a thread from late last year regarding this topic. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jeff, I definitely got to start using the search function more often! Sorry for having to asking this again. I already have a compressor with a tank that I can use with a change of adapters, so that will help reduce the expense.
I would recommend just using a spray can in lieu of painting with an air brush when doing entire O gauge or standard gauge tinplate cars and engines. Save the air brush for the small work and weathering projects. With the spray can you can get "wet" coats that allow the paint to flow.
I would recommend a Paasche single action air brush. The dual action air brushes are just needlessly complicated and unnecessary for this type of work.
I would also recommend getting custom blended automotive acrylic enamel. If you choose to use a "rattle" spray can, a good automotive paint shop can blend the paint, and even scan and match if you have about a two inch by two inch square of good paint. And they can put it in a "rattle" can for you.
The choice is yours. I find either acceptable. You stand less chance of drips and runs using a properly adjusted air brush, but that's just an opinion. Spray cans are definitely easier to use and have no cleanup issues.
Keep in mind these were toys. Runs etc were common. Some manufacturers dipped them in vats of paint and hung them to dry. Making it too perfect defeats the purpose.
