Looking to control a few Lionel accessories. Looking for something more then the buttons Lionel provided. They should be surface mounted, but I can drill a small hole under them to run the wires so they are hidden.
Only need a few but don't want to spend a ton. What do you use?

I thought so too, then I looked on Home Depot's website. Decent bell buttons are close to $6 a piece, for that price I'll use the Lionel buttons that I have plenty of. 
I like these. This seller is overpricing them, but if you can find some at a reasonable price, they look really good.

These are NC Normally Closed, so pushing them breaks the circuit. They were to use with transformers lacking a direction button.

+1 on inexpensive stuff from AllElectronics. In addition to doorbell switches, they have a selection of arcade-game style pushbutton switches that may be appropriate for your layout use.
Well with everything else, the door bell button has evolved. I bought about 12 of them about 6 years ago. A simple brass doorbell button. Seems they have "fancied" them up. I think I paid about $20 for all of them back then. The buttons were big and easy to push for kids and mounted nicely.
I have quite a few new old stock small Lionel SPST normally open buttons available. I would like to get $1 each plus shipping for them. Below is a photograph I lifted from EBay to show what they look like. If anybody is interested, please use the information in my profile to email me.
Who will be pushing these buttons? You at the control panel, or children and other visitors at the edge of the layout?
If it's you at the control panel, it seems like you're getting good suggestions in this thread. If it's children at the edge of the layout, there's only one choice:
Nothing is simpler, nothing is more obvious in its usage. If you want to hide the wires, you can remove the stamped steel plate from the underside and solder your leads directly to the back side of the posts.

Oh...didn't know. Guess I used the #90?
I only need a few of them, and even though at 10 bucks they are kinda pricy for what they are I think these would look great on my layout.
