I replaced the smoke element on my Lionel Hudson (upgraded with ERR Commander) and when I put it on the track it takes off like a bat out of ****. I tried to reset the id but no luck. I’m using the Legacy Control System. In runs fine in conventional mode. The good news is that it smokes again. Any suggestions.

Your engine is not receiving the TMCC signal. Disconnected antenna or something inside the engine.
What kind of upgrade? Was this a full upgrade with the Cruise Commander in the tender? If so, that's the place to look for the antenna issue. If you just put in the Cruise Commander M in a TMCC engine, than Chuck is right, 98% of the time you forgot to connect the handrail antennas and you have no signal to the R2LC.
